Charlie Sheen Reds' Fan

Martin Sheen grew up in Dayton. His birth name and still his legal name is Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estivez.

Friday was his 71st birthday and the graduate of Chaminade High School in Dayton, celebrated it with his son Carlos better known as Charlie Sheen.

He claimed to be a reader of Full of Schatz
Charlie has been a visitor to the Reds' clubhouse for years.  There was an infamous party in the 90's in which several Reds' players met the acquaintance of Heidi Fleiss.

One afternoon in Los Angeles, then Reds' manager Lou Piniella spotted someone in the outfield clumsily attempting to shag fly balls during batting practice.  Piniella asked the Reds' PR director Jim Ferguson, "Who the F is that?"

"Charlie Sheen," Fergie answered.

"Who the F is Charlie Sheen?" Piniella asked.

"He's an actor," Fergie replied.

"Well get him the F out of here he's embarrassing the whole F'ing team." Piniella said using words that would make a truck driver blush.

Another time in Los Angeles my friend and colleague Hal McCoy was working on a story at deadline with a three-hour disadvantage.  A man sat next to him in the press box and started a conversation.  Concentrating on his story, McCoy did his best to ignore the man without being rude.  McCoy has never "big leagued" anyone in his life.

Finally the man asked if Hal wanted a cup of coffee.  As much to get rid of the guy so he could work on his story as to get coffee.  McCoy agreed to one.

"Do you know who you were ignoring?" an LA writer asked.  "That is Charlie Sheen."
