Colerain Names New Football Coach

Colerain High School Athletic Director Matt Stoinoff looked inside the school's halls to select Carl Huber to lead the Cardinals football team in 2023.

Huber, a Northwest High and Mount St. Joe grad, earned the job over 80-plus applicants to replace Shawn Cutright, who resigned after four years.

The 2014 graduate of MSJ was an assistant under Tom Bolden and Cutright and knows the program well.  He has served as the Dean of Students at the school after serving in the US Army Reserves.

"It is an honor to have the opportunity to be the next Head Coach," Huber said.  "As a kid growing up in the district, I played football for the Little Cards and attended games.  I understand the championship tradition at Colerain."

Huber played football and wrestled at Northwest High School and was injured playing football his freshman year for the Mount St. Joe Lions.

The 31-year old, who is currentyl Dean of Students at Coierain began his coaching career as a wrestling coach at Pleasant Run Middle School.  He moved on to take over the Colerain wrestling program and led the Cards to its first ever Greater Miami Conference Wrestling title.  He was named GMC Coach of the Year and Southwest Ohio Coach of the Year in 2022.

Huber takes over a proud program that has been one of the dominate public school football programs in the area since 1992.  Last season the Cardinals finished 4-7 with a losing regular season record for the second time since then.
