The Reds traded to improve their infield defense.

Ke'Bryan Hayes won the Gold Glove for third base in 2023.

Once thought to be a top offensive prospect as well, Hayes fell a little short of his potential.

His best offensive season was also in 2023. Hayes hit .271 with 31 doubles, seven triples and 15 home runs and 61 RBI.

The Reds gave up left handed reliever, Taylor Rogers and Daytona shortstop Sammy Stafura and cash considerations.

Rogers came to the Reds on January 29 in a trade with the San Francisco Giants for minor league RHP Braxton Roxby. Stafura was the Reds second round pick in the 2023 draft.

"We're just trying to make our team a little better," Terry Francona said. At least temporarily, Noelvi Marte will play right field.

The Reds recalled Luis Mey to take Rogers spot until Hayes, who was in San Francisco arrives tomorrow.
