Cody Bellinger And Ian Happ Power Cubs To Win

Cody Bellinger drove in three runs to set up the Chicago Cubs for a 6-2 win over the Reds in the makeup game from an April rainout. The game started the crucial four-game series between the playoff contenders. 

Ian Happ homered and doubled bolster the Cubs.

Bellinger started the scoring with his 21st home run of the season, breaking a scoreless tie with two outs in the fourth inning.

Reds' starter Graham Ashcraft struck out Ian Happ as Tyler Stephenson threw out Nico Hoerner trying to steal before Bellinger went deep.

The Reds tied the game against Cubs' starter Jordan Hicks, who was pitching on his 24th birthday. 

After stranding four baserunners in the first three frames. Nick Senzel hit a one-out single. Stephenson walked and rookie Noelvi Marte singled up the middle to score Senzel with the tying run.

The Cubs opened the sixth inning with a single by Hoerner and double by Happ, who extended his on base streak to 16 games and his hitting streak to nine games. Lucas Sims relieved Ashcraft. Bellinger greeted Sims with a two-run ground single to right. 

Seiya Suzuki hit his 14th home run of the season. The hit off Duarte extended the Cubs' lead to 4-1.

Happ hit a two-run ninth inning home run, his 17th of the season to put the game away. The blow came off Derek Law, who finished the game for the Reds.

Will Benson singled home Marte in the bottom of the ninth.
