The Reds Pick Jeff Gelalich with the 57th Pick

The Reds chose UCLA outfielder Jeff Gelalich with the 57th pick as compensation for Ramon Hernandez, who signed with the Colorado Rockies.

Gelalich is a lefthanded, contact hitter with speed and a strong righthanded throwing arm.  He is 6'1" and weighs 205 lbs.

He played in 59 games for the Bruins, hitting .372 with 11 home runs and 46 RBI.  Gelalich stole six bases in eight attempts.

The Bruins are in the super regional hosting Texas Christian University.
