Watching Little League in the Big Leagues

One would think that jaded major league millionaires would have little interest in a 12 year-old game.

Not so, while waiting to stretch several players, including Ty Wigginton, Aaron Cook and Jhoulys Chacin joined AP writer Joe Kay and I watching the Hamilton West Side Little League rally to beat the Golfmoor team from Evansville, Indiana.  They play the North Oldham team from the Louisville area on Saturday.

The big league players were into the game and got a kick out of the favorite movie that one of the Hamilton Little  Leaguers picked, "The Hangover."  There was a pretty good laugh at that.

Korren Thompson had a key hit in Hamilton's three-run rally.

Colorado's manager Jim Tracy was watching.  He is from Hamilton and went to Badin High.  He talked of the Nichting family that is heavily involved in that program.

Aaron Cook also watched in another room.  He played little league but his team didn't make it to the World Series.

"I was disappointed back then, but I'm the only one that made it to the big leagues," Cook said with a smile.
