I am a freelance writer. I've covered the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and others since 1992. I have a background in sales as well. I've sold consumer electronics, advertising and consumer package goods for companies ranging from the now defunct Circuit City to Procter&Gamble. I have worked as a stats operator for Xavier University, the University of Cincinnati, the College of Mount St. Joe and Colerain High School.

State Champion Fairfield Coach Has Eyes and Ears Open in Goodyear

There is definitely a different vibe about this season for the Cincinnati Reds. I would describe it as "Promising". While many fans are simply giddy with excitement one would be wise to maintain a little realism. The Reds certainly have more talent but making the jump from 75 wins to the playoffs is no easy task. Yes they loss an absurd amount of one run games last year. Can they win a majority of those this year? That remains to be seen.

Every Reds fan is aware of the Reds additions this year. In my mind there are four individuals who could impact this season and are a key to the Reds future. Sometime in the next two years  Tyler Stephenson -catcher, Jose Garcia- shortstop, Nick Lodolo- LHP and Hunter Greene-RHP should make an appearance at Great American Ballpark. All are invites to this year's spring training. Barry Larkin told me that Garcia could be compared to Alex Rodriquez. Larkin is a keen judge of talent but rarely over hypes a player. Keep you eyes open to the progress these four make. (Garcia hit 2 home runs and made 2 fine defensive plays Tuesday against the Angels.

From Gary Yeatts Fairfield Baseball coach... He won two state championships, 1985 rated by the Cincinnati Enquirer as the best Cincinnati High School team all-time.  They won again in 1991.  That team is ranked third by the Enquirer
