Anthony DeSclafani made his third start. He wasn't sharp in the San Diego Padres three-run first inning but the defense wasn't the best either but the Reds offense took him off the hook in a 6-4 win.
"Today wasn't my best day. Not results wise, speaking," DeSclafani said. "I didn't have a lot of sink on my sinker and my slider was kind of flat."

"I was pitching out of the stretch a lot," DeSclafani said. "It's spring training. You've got to work on everything."

DeSclafani followed with a 1 2/3 innings without anyone else scoring.
"He made some good adjustments," David Bell said.
The Reds jumped on Jacob Nix, the Padres starter. Gennett singled. Joey Votto walked. Matt Kemp hit an RBI single to right. Eugenio flied out deep to left as Votto and Kemp moved up a base. Yasiel Puig singled for a run. Scott hit a sacrifice fly to center to tie the game.
Aristedes Aquino doubled in two at bats. He is hitting .417 this spring. Phil Ervin had a single in two at bats to raise his average to .368.
"He is doing everything he can to make the team," Bell said.

Schebler took matters in his own hands in the bottom of the fifth.
With two outs and the bases empty, Eugenio Suarez walked and Puig singled for his second hit off Carlos Torres.
Matt Wisler, Anthony Bass, and Ian Krol pitched scoreless innings. Ordrismer Despaigne pitched two scoreless innings for the Reds.
Sonny Gray will make his first Cactus League start on Saturday night against the San Diego Padres in Peoria. He has recovered from tightness in his right elbow.
