I had a relaxing trip to Sedona on my only day off of the spring.
It is back to work on Tuesday as Mat Latos tries to navigate four innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:05 Phoenix time and now 10:05 Cincinnati time.
The time changed on Sunday am. I was assigned to work the Cleveland Indians against the Texas Rangers and my Blackberry was set on Mountain Time which does observe daylight savings time, while Arizona does not. I woke up an hour early and was at the ballpark an hour early.
It was a good thing because there was plenty of news in the Cleveland camp that day.
Tonight the Reds will send this lineup against the Dodgers, Josh Beckett:
Shin-Soo Choo CF
Zack Cozart SS
Joey Votto 1B
Ryan Ludwick LF
Jay Bruce RF
Todd Frazier 3B
Ryan Hanigan C
Emmanuel Burris 2B
Miguel Olivo DH
Mat Latos P
Beckett came to the Dodgers from the Red Sox along with Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez.
A former World Series pitching star for the Florida Marlins, Beckett is trying to recover from an off year in 2012. Beckett made 21 starts for Boston. He was 5-11 with a 5.23 ERA with Boston. He made seven starts with Los Angeles and had a 2-3 record with a 2.93 ERA.
Both teams get a player back from the World Baseball Classic. Gonzalez was on Team Mexico and Votto played for Team Canada.
The Reds' Brandon Phillips is with Team USA in Miami for the second round. Phillips took a swipe at Goodyear on Sunday.
"I'm not ready to go back to Goodyear. There is nothing there," Phillips said.
