Reds Steal A Win From The Giants Brady Singer Where He Wants To Be

Dateline: Goodyear, Arizona

Brady Singer got his four innings of work in against the San Francisco Giants.

The plan was around 65 pitches. He left the game with 59 pitches and threw 11 more in the bullpen before retiring for the night.

The Giants had a runner on in the first, loaded the bases with no outs in the second and put a man on second with one out in the third but Singer finished with a 1-2-3 fourth and four scoreless innings.

Singer gave up three hits and walked two. He struck out two. He has two more starts in Arizona and one more in Milwaukee before he gets the ball for real against the Pittsburgh Pirates on March 29.

"I had some traffic there for a little bit," Singer said. "It's good sometimes to figure out how to work out of it. That's what spring training's for, kind of remember those situations and figure out a way to get out of it."

He will go five innings maybe six if he is this efficient.

"The pitch count is where I want it," Singer said. "The vibe is great the team's been incredible all spring. The offense, everything has been good. The guys in the locker rooms are awesome. We have a great culture in there too. We're excited to get going."

Pierce Johnson, Graham Ashcraft, Connor Phillips and Zach Maxwell turned in scoreless innings.

Offensively, the Reds weren't the home run hitting team we've seen this spring.

Elly De La walked twice and stole three bases. He scored in the first inning when he walked stole second and scored on a single by Sal Stewart. The young first baseman walked twice and stole two bases himself. Stewart is hitting a red hot .345 this spring.

Minor league right hander, Hunter Parks completed the 1-0 shutout.
