Dusty Baker took a report this morning from Mario Soto on the progress of Edinson Volquez, the Reds wayward number one starter.
"Mario said that he threw the ball excellent. A couple walks he had were the eighth hitter fouling off a lot of pitches. That's what kept him from going deeper into the game," Dusty Baker said.
Volquez had two good starts for Louisville.
Leake normal day is Monday but he was listed as the starter for Tuesday with Chad Reineke facing the Cubs on Monday. Leake took Volquez place in the rotation when Volquez was demoted.
"We could back Leake up to Monday and pitch Volquez on Tuesday. That's the theory," Baker said. There will be a discussion before the final decision is made.
