Jose Peraza Up, Keyvius Sampson Down, Zack Cozart Out, Adam Duvall In

Jose Peraza was recalled from Triple A Louisville.  Keyvius Sampson was optioned to Louisville.

It was nothing Sampson did wrong. He was sent down in lieu of a shortstop because Zack Cozart is dealing with a sore achilles tendon.

Ivan De Jesus Jr.has been filling in admirably for the Reds. Along with Tony Renda, who played leftfield while Adam Duvall nursed a bruised left foot from fouling a ball off it on Monday, De Jesus has filled in for Cozart.  Tyler Holt and Ramon Cabrera have also played well while spelling Tucker Barnhart and Billy Hamilton, who lost a heated debate with the outfield fence.

"Zack is a little banged up," Bryan Price said. "We are going to let the swelling go away. I'm not going to put him out there. I'm not comfortable with a three-man bench.  Duvall is back. It is good to get whole again."

Sampson pitched the ninth inning last night. He picked up the bullpen with six innings of relief in Milwaukee last Sunday.

"You're always only a day away from using up your bullpen but we've been getting better starts lately," Price said. "If that happens we can get someone here to give us an eight-man bullpen."

Peraza was sent to Louisville to maintain frequent playing time. He comes back to play his former teammates with a .250 average, one home run and eight RBI.  Peraza had a seven game hitting streak at Louisville, with 12 hits in 27 at bats (.444).
