Reds Don't Like Spoiler's Role

Bryan Price would rather the Reds concentrate on how they play rather than who they play.

There are a miracle away from getting back in the race, if you want to put a positive spin on the last 19 games that finds the team nine games under .500, 13 games behind the division leading St. Louis Cardinals and 7 1/2 games out of the wild card behind four teams.

It is not an uphill climb.  Mt. Everest is an uphill climb.

“Keeping the focus on us playing better baseball and winning games is still the priority," Price said. "The fact that these games are more important to the teams we’re playing is unfortunate. That being said, we knew coming in that we were going to play 162 games all out and see where the chips fell. This is good for us. It will be spirited baseball without question. If we do make a difference, it will be a positive for our ballclub.”

Rather than go through the motions, Price would like to find out which players rise to the occasion and which players wilt.  He would like to see what his young players can do.

“It’s one of those things where you find out," Price said. "You find out a lot of things over the course of a full season. We know that these games mean a lot as far as where these teams end up. Certainly there should be an investment from our side as far as going out there and making it difficult for opponents to extract victories from us.
