Joey Votto Gets A Day Off Brayan Pena ON Paternity Leave

http://donatelifeohio.org/

Joey Votto's locker was empty leaving the impression that he was going on the disabled list with his painful left quadriceps.

Votto is just getting the day off after striking out three times on Saturday without being able to push off his left leg.

"It was my decision," Bryan Price said. "He didn't ask for it but I thought he needed a day.  We knew when we put him on the disabled list before that he wouldn't be 100 percent this season."

Ramon Santiago was in the lineup at thirdbase.  Todd Frazier moved to first.

Before the meeting with Price at 11:00, the media noticed that Tucker Barnhart had a locker with his jersey for the day hanging in it.

It fueled speculation that Votto would be disabled and Pena would see some action at firstbase as he did when Votto was out.

Pena;s wife had other planes.  The Reds placed Pena on the three-day paternity list explaining Barnhart's presence.  Pena is on his way to his wife's side in Florida.
