Phillies Select Elder Grad Mike Nastold in 37th Round From U of L

Mike Nastold


Mike Nastold a righthanded pitcher for the University of Louisville was picked by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 37th round of the draft.Nastold missed the 2010 season with injury.

Earned four letters in baseball at Elder High School where he was coached by Mark Thompson. Earned Ralph Birkofer Pitching Award in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Had the lowest ERA at Elder and was named the top player in Ohio by two publications. Earned All-GCL honors. Became just the second freshman in Elder High School baseball history to play for the varsity squad. Was a member of the 2007 Connie Mack World Series Champion Midland Redskins. Was a member of Elder's state title winning team as a freshman, the school's 12th state title.
