Cueto and Phillips Stuffing the Cardinals Like a Thanksgiving Turkey

Johnny Cueto and Brandon Phillips continue to stuff the St. Louis Cardinals like they were ready for basting.  And Ramon Hernandez brought the bread crumbs.

The Reds are leading 5-0 in the top of the eighth.

Cueto has shut down the Cardinals for seven innings on two hits.  That is one inning for each game that he was suspended for his part in the brawl last August.  To ad insult to injury, Cueto singled that led to a run and retired Albert Pujols with a circus type play in which he backhanded a ball hit up the middle, took his time to right himself before throwing the Cardinal star out at first.

Phillips, who is as welcome in St. Louis as Barak Obama at John Behner's house, homered to start the scoring.  He followed an intentional walk to Joey Votto with a run scoring single and drove in the Reds fifth run, his third with a sacrifice fly.  Phillips, not one to divert attention from himself, peered into the Cardinals dugout after the single.  Phillips undoubtedly wanted to wish Tony La Russa a speedy recovery.

Hernandez extended his hitting streak to nine games with a pair of home runs, both over 400 feet in length.

To make matters more dismal to suffering Cardinal fans, the much booed, Yadier Molina, is 0-for-3 against Cueto.
