Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Gavin Lux hit big home runs to smother the Arizona Diamonbacks in a 13-1 win to take the series.

The Reds jumped all over Arizona starter Ryne Nelson in the first inning.

On-base machine, TJ Friedl, walked to open the game. One out later, Elly De La Cruz walked. Christian Encarnacion-Strand, the hero of the suspended game, hit a three-run home run. Will Benson walked. Tyler Stephenson doubled high off the left field wall with Benson stopping at third. Spencer Steer singled to score Benson. Jake Fraley out raced a double play pivot to score Stephenson with the fifth run.

Eugenio Saurez, the former Red, hit his 17th home run of the season, leading off the second. It was his 100th home run at Great American Ball Park.

The Reds scored eight runs in the fourth inning, highlited by Gavin Luz grandslam. It was his second home run of the season and third career grandslam.

"There were good at bats up and down the lineup," Lux said. "Everybody knows what we're capable of. We think this lineup is about to get hot soon."

Nick Martinez improved his record to 4-6. He finished six innings, allowing one run on six hits and one walk. He struck out six.

Pitching in the rain Martinez seamed to get stronger.

"As the game went on he got into his rhythm," Terry Francona said. "We have a day off before his next start so we sent him back out there."

"They asked me if I was o.k. I wasn't going to say no," Martinez said, as the extra inning he pitched saved a bullpen arm. "The conditions were ok. I love the slop."

Joe La Sorsa was the extra player for the second game. He pitched a scoreless inning in his Reds' debut.
