Reds Medical Rotation Is Waiting For Tylers. It Is Taking A Toll On Catchers

A pair of Tylers are in Louisville getting ready to comeback to the Reds.

Tyler Stepenson is catching five innings tonight for the Bats.  He will have tomorrow off and play again on Wednesday.  His broken thumb on his right hand is getting better and it is possible that he could return by Sunday.

Tyler Naquin is playing nine innings tonight for the bats and is scheduled to take a day off then if things go well with his strained quad, he will play nine innings in back-to-back games.

The Reds have had an epidemic of problems with catcher's hands.  First it was Stephenson, then Aramis Garcia was hit on his glove hand.  The Reds didn't disable him but have allowed him time to heal.  He is in the lineup tonight.  The Reds claimed Michael Papierskit from the San Francisco Giants on waivers.  He has been catching every day to allow Garcia time.  The emergency catcher is Kyle Farmer, who was hit with a 100 mph pitch by Spencer Strider of the Braves.  He will be out another couple of days.

The Reds recalled catcher Mark Kolozsvary in case the third catcher is needed.  Also Papierski provides a switch hitter off the bench.  RHP Art Warren was optioned.

RHP Justin Dunn is two appearances into a rehab assignment.  He was acquired by the Reds from Seattle in the trade for Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez.
