Nick Lodolo To Start Tuesday Against The Mets

 


Nick Lodolo will have a touigh assignment in his first gaem back from a back injury.

The Reds' first pick in the 2019 draft will be matched up with Max Scherzer of the New York Mets.

Lodolo defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on April 24 with 5 2/3 innings of one-run baseball.  He has been on the injured list since,  He was placed in the starting rotation a week into the season, the first time the team needed a fifth starter.  He started three games, giving up eight earned runs in nine innings in his first two starts before his successful outing against the Cardinals. 

Lodolo made four minor league rehab starts, allowing four runs in 12 2/3 innings.

Mike Minor will start the opening game of this three-game series with the Atlanta Braves.  This is the first time Minor has faced the team that brought him to the Major Leagues.  He has faced every other team in baseball at least four times.

Ronald Acuna has missed four games since June 25 against the Los Angles Dodgers.  He has been cleared to play.  He iwill be the designated hirrer on Friday and is scheduled to play in the field on Saturday.  The 24-year old outfielder from Venezuela, made his debut at Great American Ball Park on April 25, 2018.   He hit a single off Kevin Shakelford for his first Major League hit in Atlanta's 5-4 win over the Reds.
