Cincinnati found a home for much injured veteran Homer Bailey with the Dodgers along with young prospects INF Jeter Downs and RHP Josiah Gray for LHP Alex Wood, who can fit into the Reds' starting rotation.  The Reds also took Outfielders Matt Kemp, once among the most productive hitters in the National League and outfielder Yasiel Puig, who came from Cuba as a potential superstar, who wore out his welcome with LA.  The Dodgers threw in INF/C Kyle Farmer and cash.

Bailey,32, was the Reds 1st pick in the 2004 draft. He was 67-77 in 212 appearances with the Reds.  The last four were filled with injury.   Downs, 20 was a competitive balance pick (32nd overall in the 2017 draft.  He played at Dayton last season, hitting .260 with 19 home runs and stole 46 bases.  Gray is 21 and was the Reds third pick in the competitive balance round of the 2017.  He was 2-2 with a 2.58 ERA in 12 starts at Greenville last season.

Wood, 27, was originally a second round pick of the Atlanta Braves in 2012.  He was ninth in the 2017 Cy Young Award voting after a 16-3, 2.72 ERA, All-Star season that year.  Wood was 9-7 last season with a 3.68 ERA in 27 starts and six relief appearances.

Kemp is 34 years old with three All-Star appearances.  He hit .290 with 21 home runs and 25 doubles while driving in 85 runs last year.

Puig is 28 and hit .267 in 125 games last season with 23 home runs.  He hit .300 in the post season with two home runs and eight RBI.

Farmer, 28, was an eighth round selection in the 2015 draft.  The right handed hitter had a .235 batting average in 39 games.  Farmer caught and played firstbase in one game each and performed at thirdbase in 22 games.
