Billy Hamilton To The Disabled List Brennan Boesch Returns

Billy Hamilton made a spectacular play on Tuesday.  It cost him a trip to the disabled list.

Hamilton dove to catch Alcides Escobar's line drive in the gap and caught the short hop. Hamilton popped up and threw Escobar out trying to stretch the hit into a double.  Hamilton erased Escobar on a strong throw .

Hamilton paid the price with an inflamed shoulder.

Bryan Price took Hamilton out of the game after the play and Wednesday afternoon placed him on the 15-day disabled list.

"It was a spectacular play," Price said.. "He dived to field a gap shot on the short hop and got up to make a strong throw to get an above average runner. After that great throw he his shoulder was sore. We'll see how it responds to rest and treatment."

The Reds brought Brennan Boesch back from Louisville.

Boesch struggled in a bench role earlier in the year with the Reds. He was optioned to Louisville on June 15. Boesch was hitting  .125 with not home runs and one RBI in 32 games. With Louisville, Boesch was hitting. 331 in 48 games with four home runs and 28 RBI.
