Bryan Price Angry After Loss To Indians.

http://donatelifeohio.org/

Bryan Price has never been mistaken for fiery Lou Piniella so when he goes off on a tirade, it carries more weight.

The laid back Californian was visibly upset and verbally lashed out at the Reds' lack of effort on Monday night.

"It's tough we're a .500 team after 112 games. What was disappointing and unacceptable tonight was that we didn't have our heads in the game at all, especially in those first five innings," Price said.

"We had two guys that forgot how many outs there were.  We had a pitcher that didn't cover firstbase on a groundball to the right side.  We had five baserunners in the first three innings.  With that three-run home run there was a feeling that the game was over and we didn't rally.  We came to life late in the game to rally but it was unacceptable.  It was unacceptable from an effort and a mental perspective.  That's not the way we play.  We need a lot better than that.  It is something, I'll address."

"We didn't put up much of a fight after that."

"We're coming off a three out of four.  We didn't score a ton of runs until the last game in Miami but we pitched and defended.  We just didn't show up today, that's disappointing.  That bothers me.  That bothers all of us. The lack of fight and lethargy.  It says it all.   Even when we lost the game with Toronto (blew an eight run lead).  They just hit and hit and hit.  It wasn't from a lack of effort.  Today there was no energy.  I don't know what it was."

One of the few Reds' to face the music was veteran Brayan Pena, who failed twice with two-runners on before delivering the Reds' lone run with a double in the eighth on his third try.

"I think the skipper was right," Pena said, stopping way short of pointing the finger at any of his teammates.  "We're better than what we're playing.  We all know what we can do.  As a team we have to get together and resolve the situations.  The skipper and coaches work hard to get us prepared.  It has to be us as a team to come together.  We played with such emotion in Miami.  It is one thing if the other team beats us.  I'm not taking anything away from Corey Kluber.  He was fantastic but it is another thing to beat ourselves.  We have to turn the page."
