Xavier Could Join the "Catholic 7" Fox Sports Expected to Launch a Second Network

It is anticipated that Xavier and Butler will join the seven catholic schools in the Big East that do not field football teams.  The new conference will retain the Big East name (they should name it the Big Priest).

The three remaining Big East football schools will be the University of Cincinnati, Connecticut and South Florida.  They  will each get a settlement of $30 million, according to Steve Watkins' blog in the Business Courier.

Watkins also explains how Xavier will get a windfall profit from joining Marquette, DePaul, Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova.  Fox Sports is about to open a second sports network and  will offer the new Big East a large contract.
