The Reds Play Team Canada






The Reds take a break from games against their normal Major League opponents and take on Team Canada from the World Baseball Classic.

Joey Votto is a member of the Canadian team but will join them on Thursday.  He was not keen on playing against the regular season teammates.

Canada will send the following lineup to face Mat Latos:

Tyson Gillies CF (Phillies AA)
Pete Orr 2B (Phillies ML)
Tim Smith DH (Orioles AA)
Justin Morneau 1B (Twins ML)
Brett Lawrie 3B (Blue Jays ML)
Michael Saunders RF (Mariners ML)
Adam Loewen LF (Blue Jays AAA)
John Suomi C (Phillies AAA)
Cale Iorg SS (Tigers AAA)
Mark Hardy P (Padres AA)

The Reds will counter with:

Shin-Soo Choo CF
Zack Cozart SS
Jay Bruce RF
Ryan Ludwick DH
Neftali Soto 1B
Todd Frazier 3B
Chris Heisey LF
Miguel Olivo C
Emmanuel Burris 2B
Mat Latos P

The Canadian team is managed by former Toronto Blue Jays catcher Ernie Whitt.
The team reported to the Reds'/Indians' complex at Goodyear Ballpark.
Canada defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, 7-4.  Saunders homered for Canada.
