No-hit pitcher Homer Bailey and the Cincinnati Reds agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
Bailey and the Reds avoid an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Monday.
The Reds submitted a figure of $4.75 million and Bailey requested $5.8 million. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The 26-year old righthanded pitcher was the team's first round pick in the 2004 draft out of La Grange High School in La Grange, Texas. Bailey established career highs with 13 wins, including a no-hitter against Pittsburgh on September 29. He also made a career-high 33 starts and pitched a career-high 208 innings, as well as establishing a personal best 3.68 earned run average.
Bailey was the only player in the Reds' camp that was unsigned.
