I am a freelance writer. I've covered the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and others since 1992.
I have a background in sales as well. I've sold consumer electronics, advertising and consumer package goods for companies ranging from the now defunct Circuit City to Procter&Gamble.
I have worked as a stats operator for Xavier University, the University of Cincinnati, the College of Mount St. Joe and Colerain High School.
The Reds signed Mat Latos to a two-year contract to avoid arbitration.
Latos was asking for $4,700,000 through the arbitration process in his first year of eligibility while the Reds offered $4,150,000. The arbitrator is bound by rule to pick one or the other.
The Reds and Latos decided to split the difference at $4,250,000 and add the 2014 season for $7,250,000 for the 25-year old who turned in a 14-4 record with a 3.48 Earned Run Average.
Only Homer Bailey is unsigned and eligible for arbitration.
Johnny Cueto reports that his arm is "100 percent."
Cueto was dissapointed that he had to leave the Reds' playoff game against the San Francisco Giants with a strained right oblique after just eight pitches.
"I didn't pitch in the winter leagues," Cueto said. "I rested and just played long toss."
Cueto, a native of the Dominican Republic, would like to play on the country's World Baseball Classic team. The rosters for the WBC are preliminarily set but can be adjusted until February 22nd. The camps for the WBC open March 1 and the games begin March 9.
"I haven't heard anything but I would like to play in it," Cueto said.
