Eastern Kentucky Grad Christian Friedrich To Make MLB Debut

LHP Christian Friedrich was drafted in the first round by the Colorado Rockies in 2008 out of Eastern Kentucky University.

The 24-year old was 2-1 with Colorado Springs with a 3.00 ERA.

Friedrich has had two sub par seasons in the Rockies organization.  Injuries short circuited his development two years ago and he was inconsistent last season.  The lefty sought advice from veteran Jamie Moyer and Mike Hampton in the Rockies organization.

"I want to prove that I was worth the investment," Friedrich told MLB.com

Colorado manager, Jim Tracy (Hamilton Badin) will send the former Colonel to prevent the San Diego Padres from sweeping his club.

He will face former Reds 2008 top pick Yonder Alonso, who has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games.  Alonso has hit .391 with seven doubles in that stretch, raising his season batting average from .136 to .284.
