Edinson Volquez Sent to Louisville for the Second Time, Carlos Fisher Recalled

The 13 inning game at St. Louis put the Reds bullpen in a hole again.

Once again Carlos Fisher is expected to fill innings if needed over the next four games, or maybe just the next three.

Edinson Volquez's up and down performances got him demoted for the second time this season.  He had alternated a very good start with a very poor start.  He shut down Tampa Bay last week but put the Reds in a hole in the middle game of the recently concluded Cardinal series.

Dontrelle Willis

Volquez was expected to start on Sunday but look for Dontrelle Willis to make that start.  The Bats scratched Willis from a start on Monday and used him in relief of Travis Wood on Tuesday.  That would put him on schedule to pitch Sunday.

Willis has shown that his control has improved to the point that the former Rookie of the Year is ready to resume his promising career at the age of 29.

The lefthander known as D-Train is 5-2 with a 2.63 ERA at Louisville.
