Chris Carpenter Inspires Platters Classic

Chris Carpenter was visibly annoyed by the smoke from the Reds fireworks celebrating a home run on May 15th.

Ramon Hernandez hit a home run off Carpenter in the third inning.  The fireworks went off and Carpenter fumed as the smoke from them lingered in the playing area.

On Saturday, Carpenter, who batted eighth in the St. Louis batting order, was greeted over the PA system with the Platters classic, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes.

It was a light hearted jab at the St. Louis hurler.
