Dateline: Cincinnati
Sal Stewart and Chase Burns will both go to the All-Star game in Philadelphia for the first time each.
Stewart, 22, is the seventh Reds rookie to be named to the National League All-Star team. Chris Sabo, Scott Williamson, Wayne Simpson, Johnny Bench, Frank Robinson and Ewell Blackwell are the others.
Burns is just 23 years old and will make his next start on Wednesday, making it plausible that he could start the game for the National League.
Burns is tied for the National League leaders in wins as a starter, at 10-1 in 17 starts. He has a 2.40 ERA ranking sixth in Major League Baseball. Aaron Ashby leads baseball with 12 wins but he is a relief pitcher.
Stewart is hitting .255 with 17 home runs and 60 RBI which ties him for seventh in baseball and most by a rookie. He leads all rookies with 20 doubles.
