Andrew Abbott Starts The Road Trip With High Hopes Of A Better Trip

Andrew Abbott will try to get this road trip started off better than the Reds last excursion. It starts in Cleveland against the Guardians.

The Reds All-Star hurler is 2-2 with a 4.47 ERA in nine starts. His last three have been more like himself.  He threw six innings against Colorado on April 30. He allowed two runs on five hits. He pitched 5 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball on four hits against the Chicago Cubs. In his last outing he pitched six scoreless inning on three hits and a walk against the Houston Astros.

He is 3-1 lifetime against Cleveland with a 2.11 ERA in four starts. Abbott pitched against the Guardians twice in 2025 and won both. He allowed no runs in 14 innings, including a complete game shutout on June 10 in Cleveland.

The Guardians will send 27-year old right hander, Tanner Bibee against the Reds. The Guardians fifth round pick in 2021 from Cal State-Fullerton, is 0-5 with a 4.17 ERA in nine starts. His last start was good enough to win. Bibee pitched six innings, allowing one run on one hit and two walks.

It will be his fourth career start against the Reds. Bibee is 1-2 with a 4.42 ERA. He pitched six innings in his last start against Cincinnati on May 16, 2025. The Reds scored five runs, four earned in six innings of a 4-3 loss. He allowed 10 hits and walked one. Will Benson, who won the Ohio Cup, Most Outstanding Player award hit a three-run home run and Austin Hays hit a home run.
