The Reds appear to cut ties with Christian Encarnacion-Strand, designating him for assignment and selecting the contract of PJ Higgins to take his place on the 40-man roster.
Higgins was also promoted to the 26-man Major League roster when backup catcher, Jose Trevino, was placed on the injured list retroactive to April 5 with thoracic spine strain.
