Fred Lewis Returns Jeremy Hermida Goes Back To Louisville

Fred Lewis oblique injury has healed and he has completed the limit of his minor league rehab.

The Reds activated Lewis, signed in the off season to compete for the leftfield position and the leadoff spot in the batting order.

"I haven't had any setbacks," said Lewis, who hit .300 and walked 12 times for Louisville.  "People have been asking me if I have 20-20 vision but I told them that I'm not a free swinger.  If the ball isn't in my zone, I'm not going to swing at it."

"It was a combination baseball and business decision," Dusty Baker said, explaining the move that requires the Reds to return Jeremy Hermida to Louisville.  "Hermida has options and Lewis doesn't.  If we don't bring Lewis back after the rehab is up.  He can be a free agent and the Reds still have to pay him."
