Jose Trevino has recovered from a strained hamstring and will return to the Reds today.
PJ Higgins was optioned to Triple A Louisville.
Higgins played in 13 games combined in his two tours with the Reds, hitting .231 with one double as a backup for Tyler Stephenson.
When Trevino went down, he was hitting .138 in 11 games with two trips to the injured list. Both players are 33.
