The Milwaukee Brewers hit three home runs to clobber the Reds, 9-1.

It is the 12th place series between the teams that Milwaukee claimed.

Andrew Abbott came into the game with a perfect 5-0 record and a microscopic ERA of 1.51,

He retired the first eight batters he faced but Brice Turang hit a two-out double. The Brewers got an RBI single and a single from Jackson Chourio before fanning the red hot Christian Yelich.

The Reds threatened Milwaukee starter DL Hall in the third.

Jose Trevino doubled off the left field wall. Will Benson struck out. Matt McLain and TJ Friedl walked to load the bases with one out. Santiago Espinal lined out to second base. Elly De La Cruz grounded out to third base.

"We had a nice opportunity with Espy up and a leftie on the mound," Francona said. "He hit the soft liner to second. You never know until the games over. I never feel like if we don't score there, let's not play."

In the fifth inning, Turang reached first on a slow roller to third. Chourio hit a two-run home run to right field.

Trevino doubled again off Quinn Priester to lead off the fifth. Benson moved him to third with ground ball to the pitcher. McLain drove in the run with a ground out to short.

The Reds' catcher had two doubles and a single.

"It is frustrating," Trevino said. "The expectation of our team is to win. Everybody in this clubhouse expects to win. We can't stack those W's up yet. It's frustrating."

Daz Cameron, the son of former Reds' outfielder Mike Cameron, followed Abbott's first walk of the game to Rhys Hoskins with a long blast to left field. It was his first home run of the season.

Abbott suffered his first loss of the season. He pitched six innings, allowing a season-high five runs on seven hits. He had one walk and struck out six.

"It was two bad pitches," Abbott said. "A cutter that didn't move down the middle to Chourio and a change up, up to Cameron. In all fairness they should hit those a long way. Me and DJ were talking on the bench. It was a perspective game. I threw a lot of strikes. I was ahead of a lot of guys. I was still able to go six with the pitch count."

"It was a perspective thing. Obviously, giving up five runs, you want to keep us in the game. Underneath all of that, I had the best velo of the year. I threw 70 strikes in 100 pitches. It is the little things that in the first few starts, I didn't have. Hopefully, you can improve on that and the results will follow," Abbott said.

Wade Miley made his first appearance since April 16, 2024. Hoskins and Cameron singled on Miley's first two pitches. Sal Frelick reached on catcher's interference. Joey Ortiz forced Hoskins at home on  a grounder to short. Eric Haas singled home Cameron. Turang forced Frelick at the plate. Monasterio lined to left to end the frame.

Isaac Collins hit a three run home run off Miley in the ninth. It was his second of the season.

Yelich singled in front of Collins home run to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
