The Reds sent outfielder Scott Schebler to Louisville after the game on Saturday and expect to recall Kyle Waldrop.
The team wants Schebler, who singled as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning, to get regular playing time now that Adam Duvall has taken the reigns of the every day leftfield job.
Schebler's hit raised his average to .188. He hit one home run and drove in eight runs in 63 at-bats.
Waldrop didn't play much in spring training with a strained groin.
Waldrop had 90 at bats at Louisville, hitting .233 with four home runs and 11 RBI. Waldrop had 11 hits in his last 12 games, including seven in a row with three of the home runs in that span.
