Jon Moscot Joins Reds Rotation Jason Marquis DFA'd
The Reds rotation and bullpen got younger.
Jon Moscot's contract was selected from Triple A Louisville this afternoon and he will jump right in and make his Major League debut against the San Diego Padres.
Moscot, 23, was drafted by the Reds in the fourth round of the 2012 draft after graduating from Palisades Charter High School in Palisades, California. He also attended Cuesta College and Pepperdine University.
Raisel Iglesias was scratched from the start with a strained left oblique which he felt after his last start against Washington last Saturday. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Veteran Jason Marquis was designated for assignment. The Reds have 10 days to trade, waive or get him to accept assignment to the minor leagues.
Pedro Villarreal was recalled from Louisville to take Marquis' place in the bullpen.
Moscot is 7-1 at Louisville in nine starts with a 3.15 ERA. He struck out 34 batters in 54 1/3 innings while walking 19.
