Chris Paddack will make his second start for the Reds in the rain delayed opener of the three-game series. Andre Pallante will start for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Paddack, known as the sheriff, brings an 0-5 record with a 7.07 ERA to the mound. He was released by the Miami Marlins on May 10. The Reds signed him May 13 when Rhett Lowder was placed on the injured list.

Pallante is 6-4 in 19 appearances against the Reds, lifetime with a 2.49 ERA. He has started against the Reds nine times in his career. The Reds beat him in his last start against them on September 17, 2025. He allowed four runs on six hits in five innings. He struck out three.
